How much is HGV training?

What is Driver CPC?

The Driver CPC is a qualification that all professional lorry, bus, and coach drivers must have to be able to drive for a living. It was created to improve road safety and uphold high levels of driving. This must be maintained by attending 35 hours of training every five years or the certificate will lapse.

What does driver CPC stand for?

The term ‘Driver CPC’ stands for ‘Certificate of Professional Competence’. The Driver CPC is a qualification that all professional lorry, bus, and coach drivers must possess to be able to drive for a living. The Driver CPC was introduced in 2008 as part of an EU directive, to improve road safety and standards of professional driving.

How long does driver CPC last?

Your Driver CPC certificate, which certifies your experience and competence in road transport, is valid for five years. To maintain your Driver CPC, you must complete 35 hours of training by the end of your five-year term. Your card displays the deadline for completing your education.

How long to train as an HGV driver?

To become a fully qualified HGV driver usually takes around 3-4 months. This includes completing both theory and practical training. However, the time it takes to complete your training may vary depending on the length of time it takes your licence to come back from the DVLA with the provisional entitlement.
